Cod Roe 600-700g
Cod Roe is made of Cod fish eggs, harvested in the sac still intact. It has a similar structure to that of pancreas or other organ meats. Its fresh and slightly salty taste and high nutrition value make it one of the most popular delicacy in Scandinavia. We have acquired a small quantity of these, 600-700g, pieces of uncooked Cod Roe, perfect for consuming deep fried, marinated or even raw. Please note the pieces are not always complete, as they can come from wild caught large fish.
Cod Roe is a good source of Omega-3s. One tablespoon of Cod Roe contains about 137 milligrams of the essential fatty acid. In comparison, the same amount of salmon has only 47 milligrams. Cod Roe also offers beneficial nutrients such as Vitamin B12 and dietary fibre which are crucial for strong bones and immune system as well as healthy metabolism and digestive tract.
Cod Roe is a staple in Scandinavian and Mediterranean cuisines. It is usually prepared by boiling, while wrapped in parchment and then it can be chilled, deep fried or whipped in Taramasalat with oil, breadcrumbs, salt, onion and lemon. Best served with Australian oaked Semillon-Chardonnay or Chardonnay-Semillon.
