They are a great source of minerals and vitamins such as Phosphorus and Vitamin D due to their small soft bones which can be consumed. This type of fish is thought to help with vision improvement and strengthening the immune system.
Whitebait is very quick and easy to prepare, all you need to do is throw them in a couple of inches of hot oil for 2 to 3 minutes until golden and crispy. Perfect for a tasty snack or a main meal, most often served with brown bread, butter and a lemon wedge, or with a side off chips or roasted potatoes. Best paired with a cold beer, or a glass of crisp white wine.
