Soft-shell Crab is farmed and is a culinary term for crabs that have recently moulted their old exoskeleton and are still soft. The crabs are considered a delicacy in many cultures. The preparation of soft-shells is very similar to that of hard-shells with one exception: the crab must be completely thawed before cooking. Thawing them can be accomplished by leaving them out on the counter at room temperature overnight. You get 14 of them in a 1kg box!

The best way to cook soft shell crab is to pan-fry in hot olive oil or to broil it in the oven. An alternate preparation of frying soft-shell crab is with breadcrumbs and seasonings (ex: salt, pepper, paprika) sprinkled on the crabs before the oil is added. For serving you can blanch the crab in ice-cold water and remove the meat from inside and place it back into the main shell otherwise known as Dressed Crab a delightful dish that is sure to wow your dinner guests!

    First time I’ve cooked these (tempura) deep fried and they were delicious 😋
    Done some prawns as well.
    I think personally..they tasted better than the ones I’ve eaten in Restaurants.
    Still got a few left ..but will definitely be ordering again.
