They are a great source of minerals and vitamins such as Phosphorus and Vitamin D due to their small soft bones which can be consumed. Blanchbait is very quick and easy to prepare, all you need to do is throw them in a couple of inches of hot oil for 2 to 3 minutes until golden and crispy. Perfect for a tasty snack or a main meal, most often served with brown bread, butter and a lemon wedge. Best paired with crisp Sauvignon Blanc or pale ale.
