Whole Scampi 4/7 in kg – Langoustines
Large wild whole raw Scampi, also known as Dublin Bay Prawns or Langoustines, with 4-7 extra-large in a kilo pack. Many chefs believe that raw Scampi have a better flavour than Prawns. These are succulent white shellfish and are closely related to the Lobster. The whole Scampi are a delicacy and are normally served as a starter for a banquet.
Although they are a type of crustacean, wild large Scampi is rich in omega-3 fatty acids and carotenoids. In addition to being exceedingly delicious, Scampi also boast high levels of selenium, vitamin B12, and magnesium to help combat health problems such as heart conditions and depression.
They are delicious served with just a squeeze of lemon and a dollop of mayonnaise, garlic butter, or aioli but can also be added in place of traditional prawn or shrimp to curry, pasta, and paella. Alternatively, deep-fry them in batter or peel and poach them and make a traditional Scampi Provencal. Pair with a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc when served.
