From Morecambe Bay in Lancashire – brown shrimp, a king among fellow crustaceans, and one that reaches the heady heights of gastronomic nirvana when potted, in spiced butter, then spread thick across hot brown toast. The Germans, French, and Belgians, they’re all mad about the brown shrimp. Here, they’re still popular, but not on the same scale. Cook them as they’re supposed to be cooked, with the shells on, not ‘cleaned’ out by boiling, their shells have an important job to do keeping the flesh moist while cooking and ensuring it stays intact while being boiled or woken up by frying.
The brown shrimps themselves are small, they’re not like the white shrimp that you see in the supermarkets. Our brown shrimps are ‘in season’ when you see them, so we usually sell them in March and April until July or August. And then at the end of June or July or in September.
Brown shrimp is low in saturated fats and is a very good source of selenium and vitamin B12. Selenium is important to the immune system and can aid calcium absorption. Vitamin B12 is a key part of the body’s metabolic process. This is healthy, low-fat food for the whole family.
While it’s best to cook them whole, if you have to clean them before cooking, then be sure to use the shells in the cooking liquid. You’ll end up with a very tasty stock if you simmer the ingredients in a small amount of water for an hour and then strain the broth.

If a delivery is left without a signature, parcels are left at the customer’s risk. Unless otherwise instructed, drivers may leave orders in a safe place, out of sight where possible.

If we anticipate any issue affecting your selected delivery date, we will contact you as soon as possible to arrange a suitable alternative. Please ensure someone is available to accept delivery or provide clear safe-place instructions.
Our stock system is designed to display live availability wherever possible. However, in the rare event that an item becomes unavailable before dispatch, we may substitute it with the closest suitable alternative. Any price difference will be refunded accordingly.

We use DPD courier services for all UK deliveries.
Orders must be placed before 2pm for next-day delivery eligibility. Deliveries typically arrive by 6pm.
To make ordering as simple as possible, our checkout only displays available delivery dates based on your location and order.
You’ll be able to select a delivery day that suits you, and any additional charges will be clearly shown before checkout.
Orders are carefully prepared and packed the evening before dispatch. On the day of delivery, DPD will send a notification with your allocated one-hour delivery window.

While over 99% of deliveries arrive on time, occasional courier delays can happen. In the unlikely event your order is delayed by one day, your items will remain protected in temperature-controlled packaging designed to withstand short transit delays. By placing an order, customers acknowledge that deliveries may occasionally arrive up to one day later than scheduled. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for full details.
Courier procedures have changed significantly in recent years, and while drivers will often knock or ring the doorbell, this cannot always be guaranteed.
Delivery updates are usually sent via text message or email, so we recommend keeping an eye on your notifications on the day of delivery.
If your parcel has not arrived within the advised delivery window, please contact us and we’ll investigate with the courier on your behalf. We actively monitor consignments and will always contact customers if we become aware of any issues affecting delivery.
